The Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholarship is in place to assist a Cuyahoga Falls High School Senior Football Player(s), Senior Cheerleader, Senior Band Member and/or Senior Student Super Fan who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must do well academically, exhibit leadership potential, participate in extra-curricular activities and illustrate a readiness for college. The applicant must be a Cuyahoga Falls High School senior in good academic standing and on course to graduate his/her senior year.
Each year a minimum of three students will be designated Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholars. A Senior Football Player will receive a $2,000 scholarship and will also be eligible for a second $2,000 scholarship (The Coach Terry Ross Achievement Scholarship) for their sophomore year based on qualifications set forth by the Club. A Senior Cheerleader, Senior Band Member and/or Senior Student Super Fan will receive a one-time $500 scholarship. The recipients may use the scholarships to attend an accredited four-year or two-year college or university of their choice within the United States. Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholarships are not limited to any specific field or career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline.
Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholars are selected in the spring prior to entering college. Applications are screened during the month of March by The Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholar Program committee. Winners of the scholarship will be announced in May at Senior Recognition and names will be posted on The Black Tiger Gridiron Club website in early May.
Application Deadline
The Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholarship Program application deadline is March 1st. All applications must be received by the coach or instructor by March 1st in order to be considered for The Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholarship. Incomplete, e-mailed, faxed or mailed applications will not be considered. Applicants will be disqualified if application material is incomplete, if they fail to meet the application requirements or if the applicant fails to follow instructions.
Scholarship Conditions
Black Tiger Gridiron Club Scholarships may be used to supplement benefits from the college or university a student plans to attend and from other foundations or organizations. Scholars may use the scholarship to help cover the costs of tuition, fees, books, room and board, computers, health insurance, and other college-related expenses.
Scholarship Eligibility - Candidates must:
- Be a graduating senior of Cuyahoga Falls High School in good standing.
- Have an overall minimum high school GPA of 2.75.
- Be enrolled in any four-year or two-year accredited college or university program.
- Be a registered, full-time student (12 credit hours or more).
Applicants Will Be Judged On:
- Spelling, punctuation and legibility
- Grade Point Average and ACT/SAT Scores (transcript required)
- Strength of references
- Work experience while in high school
- Honors received
- Community involvement
